Endless summer fishing at Channel Islands Sportfishing

Channel Islands Sportfishing Report:

The endless summer bite continues at the Channel Islands. Yellowtail, Bonito and Barracuda are the focus of most the boats. Everything is the same as it was last week with a strong bite at the local islands. The only noticeable change this week was a new school of bigger Yellowtail moving into the islands.

The Yellowtail we had been seeing were averaging 15 pounds but now they are averaging 25 pounds. Fish upwards of 35 to 40 pounds are being caught every day. All of a sudden we are having to tell our anglers to bring no less than 40 pound line. Otherwise, things are as solid and stable as they can be. Still no sign of this surface bite slowing but with that said don’t wait too long to go fishing. This kind of bite can virtually die overnight if we get a big weather system roll through or some other kind of dramatic condition change.

Whoppers:

1) Mark Williams from Oxnard caught a 32lb Yellowtail on a 3/4 day trip aboard the Gentleman.

2) Nick Sevier from Moorpark caught a 29lb Yellowtail on a full day trip aboard the Sea Jay.

3) Britt Csorba from Ventura caught a 27lb Yellowtail on a full day trip aboard the Aloha Spirit.

4) Eddie Samu from Thousand Oaks caught a 38lb Yellowtail on a 3/4 day trip aboard the Gentleman.
