Sand Dab trips on the Gentleman & Whale Watching on the Ranger 85
This past week everything was put on hold as multiple storms passed through the area bringing rain and high surf. It started last weekend and didn’t clear up until Friday. The Sand Dab trips on the Gentleman over the weekend were able to go fishing but conditions were definitely not ideal. Saturday the boat and its anglers had to deal with a lot of rain and fishing was fair but not great. The very next day however, the weather mellowed out and fishing was outstanding. The Gentleman reported just shy of 200 Sand Dabs per angler! Fishing only on the weekends, the Gentleman crew along with all boat crews from the entire fleet showed up Monday morning to do boat maintenance. Unfortunately, another storm brought with it an entire week of rain. Heavy rain coming in sideways is not exactly ideal conditions for painting, epoxy, wood work, or fiberglass. But here we are at the start of another weekend, but this time the weather will be nice. In fact the forecast shows sunny and warming conditions for the next seven days. So hopefully everyone will get to make up for lost time and get back on track.
Our Whale Watching season on the Ranger 85 starts on Saturday January 19th and 20th. Weekends will have both a 9am and 1pm departure and on the weekdays, they run one trip departing at 9am.
As for fishing, the Gentleman will continue running Sand Dab trips on the weekends leaving at 6am and returning at 3pm. They have added one trip for the upcoming Martin Luther King Jr holiday, on Monday the 21st. For information, call us at 805-382-1612. To just book a trip, visit us at CiSportfishing.com
